Container jobs are settled on the phone in about two minutes. Here is what to have ready.
(619) 658-9555Mon–Sat 6am–6pmFive things, and the call is done
- The cross streets, not just the address In this city the block decides the job. Cross streets tell us the alley, its likely width, and whether the street is a posted winter route.
- Whether there is an alley, and whether you have private ground A driveway, a garage apron or a side drive means no permit at all. The alley or the street means a permit, which is ours to obtain.
- Roughly when the building was built Pre-war means plaster over lath, which is heavy and changes the container. Post-war means drywall, which does not.
- What the material actually is “Plaster from two rooms of a greystone” beats “quite a lot of stuff”. Mixed, heavy and bulky are three different containers.
- How long you need it, and whether the date is fixed A public way permit has to cover the whole period, and a closing or an inspection changes how we schedule.

Coverage
Alley, driveway and public way placement.
Public way permits handled by us under the city code.
From the call to collection
- We size it on the phone Based on the material, the age of the building and where it can stand — not a dropdown. If we think you want something different from what you asked for, we will say why.
- We sort the permit if one is needed Public way placement is our application under the city code. Private property needs nothing. You will know which within a minute of describing the spot.
- Delivery on the day agreed Boards down on a driveway, careful positioning in an alley, doors facing the way you asked. If anything about the access has changed since you rang, tell the driver before it comes off.
- You load it, level with the rail Ring if you need longer or need a swap. On a public way placement, before the permit period runs out rather than after.
- Call when you are done Collection is usually the next working day. You do not need to be there.
Things worth asking us about
Whether it will fit the alley
The question we most want you to ask, and the one a regional booking system cannot answer. Cross streets are all we need.
Whether something can go in
Illinois' banned list catches people out, electronics most of all. Describe the item — it is a thirty second answer.
Whether you need a roll-off at all
For a couple of items you probably do not, and we will point you at city bulk collection instead.
What people ask when they call
Is there an online booking form?
No, deliberately. Sizing a Chicago container needs two or three follow-up questions that a form cannot ask, and the permit question needs answering properly. The call is quicker.
Do I apply for the dumpster permit?
Not in Chicago. The city code puts it on the container provider for public way placements. Your building permit, if the project has one, remains yours.
What if I ring outside hours?
Leave a message with the cross streets and the job and we will come back when the yard opens. Monday mornings are busy — a message beats a redial.
Do I need to be there for delivery?
Not if the placement is clear and agreed. In an alley, mark the spot if there is any ambiguity.
How much notice do you need?
A few days for a driveway. More for a public way placement, because the permit and the delivery day have to line up. Winter street placements need the most notice of all.
Can I change the collection date?
Yes, as long as you tell us before the scheduled day — and on a permitted placement, before the permit period ends.
Ready when you are
Cross streets, the building, and what is coming out of it. That is the whole conversation.
